This paper discusses the application of 3D printing technology in the design and manufacture of shoes. The use of 3D printing technology not only makes the structure design and modeling design of footwear products no longer entirely restricted by the limitations of the traditional manufacturing process,but also it also makes shoes design more creative and free, which may stimulate the emergence of a large number of independent designers and new designer brands. At the same time, the application of 3D printing technology can make shoes design more socialization;which will not only break the stiffness of the previous design organization but also meet the individual needs of consumers perfectly. It can give consumers the opportunities of designing and manufacturing the products for themselves and building a innovative system of multiple values such as society, business, culture and public future life style—the design network service platform.Moreover, this paper also analyzes the current limitations of 3D printing technology in the footwear design and manufacturing, and looks forward to the future development.
