摘要
西方人普遍存在自我提升效应,此效应在东亚人中是否存在还有争议。在初中生自我识别的研究中发现,他们普遍出现了自我容貌的提升效应,即认为更漂亮的图片是自己的本来样子,且对自我容貌比较满意的个体的提升效应更为明显,与不满意个体呈显著差异。进一步的研究发现,对容貌满意的个体确实认为更漂亮的图片与自己的相似程度更高。相比较而言,不满意个体对自我容貌的认知较为准确。无论现阶段对自我的容貌满意与否,初中生对自己将来的形象都保持着乐观的态度,即将更为漂亮帅气的图片看成是自己将来的样子。
Self- enhancement is prevalent in Westerners,whether this effect exists in East Asians remains as dispute. The research used middle school students as participants and found that enhancement in self - face recognition is very common. 38 middle - school students werecbosen from 109 based on the Negative Physical self scale( appearance concern, NPSS - A). 20 were the least satisfied with their appearance while 18 were the most satisfied with appearance ,half boys and half girls, with mean age of 14.37 (SD = 0.46). The participants' facial images were morphed in 10% increments(up to 50% )with a highly attractive or unattractive same - gender, same - age target face. These morphed faces were shown randomly for participants to choose which one was their original face. Then asked the participants to think about what they would be like when they are 20 years old, and showed them their facial images morphed with attractive or unattractive same -gender,20years old target face. In experiment 2 ,the morphed faces were showed to the participants to estimate the likelihood of each image to their actual image,on a scale ranging from 0( not at all likely)to 9(certain). Finally,the participants should indicate how much they liked each image on a scale ranging from 0 to 9. The result showed that: ( 1 ) all the students showed self - enhancement in self - face recognition, that is, they were more likely to recognize an attractively enhanced version of their own face out of lineup as their own. Furthermore,compared with those dissatisfied with their appearanee,those satisfied ones showed en- hancement in a higher level, while those dissatisfied students comparatively recognized their own faces more accurately. (2) Experiment 2 verified the conclusion of experiment 1 that those who satisfied with their appearance would rate those more attractive image as more likely to be their own,while those dissatisfied ones rated their own images more accurately. To the unattractively images ,all students rated dislike. To those attractive images, fondness degree were increased with growth of attractiveness for the dissatisfied students, while satisfied ones loved those images that rated as the most likely to be their own. (3)Whether satisfied with their current appearance or not,the students were all optimistic to their future appearance,they all chose more attractive pictures as their future appearance.
