摘要
"慈悲"是佛教的根本精神,其义为"与乐拔苦",它决定了佛教的伦理化特征,也奠定了其在汉传佛教伦理中的"母德"地位,即诸德之母,因为佛教中的戒律(制度化的道德规范)以及佛教诸应用伦理中基本原则和道德规范皆依"慈悲"精神而确立,皆体现"慈悲"精神、皆统摄于"慈悲"精神。佛教慈善则是"慈悲"精神的弘扬与践行,是佛教服务社会、饶益众生的主要方式。
Compassion or love is the most important spiritual quality in Buddhism,which is understood to mean activesympathy or a willingness to bear the pain of others. As the fundamental quality in Buddhism,it determines theethical characteristics of this religion. Both tenets of Buddhism and principles of Buddhism ethics are deeply root-ed in it. Buddhism charity is the major means of displaying this quality and treating all living things with an empathetic altruism.
