This paper introduces and analyzes the application and reason of causing the breakdown of metal-seal ball valve on the coal lock hopper. It discusses in detail the type selection of disc valve, and proposes combined single-double disc valve configuration and installation methods according to the coal lock hopper process and its requirement. This configuration method enables the disc valve to meet the process requirement with less wear and longer life, and meanwhile avoids pressure holding. Structure design of the single disc valve and double disc valve is introduced. Advantages of this configuration method in interchangeability, reliability of sealing performance and convenience for installation and maintenance are summarized.
