现存《古今文评》为日本的"和刻本",共一卷,是一部有关古今文章的评论性著作。其作者王守谦极有可能是在嘉靖年间出生,于崇祯年间去世。此书前半部分点评了从夏朝到元朝的文章,其中对先秦著作点评较多;后半部分对明代文章详尽述评,且对明朝前的文章多从著作角度评价,而对明朝文章则以作家为线索,评判作品的优劣。《古今文评》认为,文章的气格因时代而不同,文章的精粹取决于作家的性灵。书中还揭露了前后七子之末流的弊端,推举欧苏。

The existent review of Comments on Articles of Ancient and Present is in all a roll of block - printed edition in Japan, which is a critical works on ancient and modem articles. Its author, Wang Shouqian who died in Chongzhen years, was probably born in Jiajing period. The first part of the content is comments on the articles from the Xia Dynasty to the Yuan Dynasty, which more about the pre -Qin literature review. In the second part of arti- cle, it contains detailed review of Ming dynasty, remarking about the articles of pre - Ming from the perspective of literature evaluation. However, it pays more attention to the author viewed as the clues to judge articles in Ming dy- nasty. The Comments on Articles of Ancient and Present argues that the style of articles should change by the time; on the other hand, the essence of articles should depend on the writer＇s personality, which also reveals the sink of the former and the later seven poets, and highly recommend Ou and Su.
