On the Anti-Japanese Activities by He Jifeng in the Northwest of Hubei Province

抗战八年,有六年多时间何基沣是在鄂西北度过的。此间,作为77军副军长,何基沣倾力主持军事教育工作,为77军造就了一批抗战人才;作为179师师长和晋升后的77军军长,他率部奋勇杀敌,长期坚守在荆(门)、当(阳)、远(安)、南(漳)一线;作为中共特别党员,他利用自己的特殊身份,抵制国民党顽固派的反共分裂阴谋,从各方面直接或间接地为中共及新四军做了大量工作。

During the eight years of Chinese people＇s Anti-Japanese War, He Jifeng spent more than six years in the northwest of Hubei province. As the deputy commander of the 77th army, He Jifeng was in charge of military education and trained a large number of anti-Japanese war talents. As the division commander of the 179th division and the army commander of the 77th army, he was courageously fighting against the enemy and held fast to his position in Jingmen, Dangyang, Yuan＇an and Nanzhang. As a special member of the Chinese Communist Party, making use of his special identity, he had done a lot of work for the Chinese Communist Party and the New Fourth Army by resisting the anticommunist split plot of Kuomintang.
