正确使用英语词典及各类参考工具是大学生,尤其是英语专业学生应具备的基本技能,然而目前词典使用状况即使在英语专业学生中也不容乐观,主要表现为词典意识淡薄、辞书知识匮乏、依赖双解或双语词典、缺乏必要的词典使用技巧、偏爱袖珍词典或电子词典五大方面。对目前英语专业学生词典使用的误区及其原因进行分析,能有针对性地指导学生正确使用词典,提高词典使用教学质量。

Proper use of English dictionaries and reference books of all kinds is a necessary and basic skill for university English learners,especially English majors. But the current situation of dictionary use,represented by low awareness of dictionary use,lack of dictionary knowledge,dependence on bilingual or bilingualised dictionaries,lack of necessary reference skills,favor of small-size or electronic dictionaries,is far from satisfactory even among English majors. The paper gives an analysis of the misuse of dictionaries among English majors and their reasons with a wish to guide the students to use dictionaries properly and propel the quality of teaching dictionary skills as well.
