广东中东部江门所辖新会、台山、开平、恩平、鹤山五市,地里概念上被称为五邑,其丧礼习俗经过了一段漫长时间的历史演变,形成了独特的特色。五邑区域的丧礼文化在中国岭南地区长达两千多年的封建社会中,对于维护封建伦理道德、强化封建秩序起到了相当重要的作用。近代随着西方文化的传入、中国社会的转型,五邑区域的丧礼文化也因之在丧期、程序、下葬形式等领域而变革。今天,对社会主义礼制文化建设、社会秩序建设同样起到重要作用。

Five county-level cities administered by Jiangmen that is located in east-central Guangdong, namely Xinhui, Taishan,Kaiping, Enping and Heshan cities, are together called Wuyi in geographic concept. Its funeral custom has become a unique characteristic during a long historical evolution of time. In the feudal society for more than 2 000 years of south of the Five Ridges of China, Wuyi Region＇s funeral custom had played a quite important role in maintaining feudal values and strengthening feudal order. In modern times, with the introduction of western fashion culture and social transformation of China, funeral culture of Wuyi Region has changed in the fields of funeral period, procedure, forms of burial and so on. Today, it also plays an important role in the construction of the socialist etiquette culture and social order.
