On the Evolution of Checked Tone in Ancient Hunan Gan Dialect

根据湖南赣语18个方言点的材料指出,湖南赣语有的有入声调,有的没有入声调。无论是有入声调的方言还是无入声调的方言,其内部又可分为不同的小类。考察湖南赣语周边方言古入声的今读及湖南的移民史之后认为,湖南赣语古入声的今读大多数来源于江西移民带来的方言的影响,少数是受周边官话或湘语渗透所致,也有部分是因方言自身演变而形成的。

According to the data of 18 Hunan Gan dialects, the checked tone existed in some dialects, but it cannot be found in others. By analyzing the existing tone of ancient Hunan Gan dialect and the migrating history of Hunan province, the present study finds that the current checked tone of ancient Gan dialect in Hunan was affected mostly by the dialect of the migrant groups from Jiangxi province, very little by the surrounding language spoken by officers and the integration of Xiang dialect, still partly by its own change and evolution.
