The Throes before Maturity: An Interpretation of the People and Things in the Debate around the CPC's Seventh National Congress in the Fourth Red Army

1929年春天到秋季发生在红四军内部的大争论,是中国共产党探索建党建军之路必然遭遇的风波,更是毛泽东作为领袖人物走向成熟前不可避免的"阵痛"。解析红四军"七大"前后争论风波中的人和事,我们不应该只看到其人事、理论上的纷争,更应该看到这是我们党的领导人成长、成熟的必然过程。这场风波不但使毛泽东这个党的领袖人物更加成熟了,也使朱德、陈毅这两个党内杰出人物更加成熟了,这场风波让他们更加理性地对待党内争论和意见分歧,更加紧密地团结在党的最高目标之下。

The big dispute that occurred within the Fourth Red Army from the spring to the autumn of 1929 was a storm that the CPC would inevitably encounter during the process of exploring in building the Party and the army,and also the throes from which Mao Zedong,as the leader of the CPC and the army,could not escape. To understand the people and things in this debate,we should not stay on the conflicts in personnel and ideas,but should eye on the growth and maturation of the leaders of our Party. This dispute not only made Mao Zedong,the leader of the Party,but also made Zhu De and Chen Yi,two outstanding persons in the Party,more mature. Since then,they learned to treat intra- party disputes and differences more rationally,and be united beneath the supreme goal of the Party more closely.
