Coral Consumption in Ancient China and Exploitation in the South China Sea

我国古代社会开发利用南海珊瑚的历史十分悠久,但因生产端在华夏文明边缘的南海而缺乏文献记载,因此首先研究中国古代社会对珊瑚的消费情况,并追溯珊瑚的产地来源,得出结论:中国古代社会消费的珊瑚来源有两个渠道,一类是国外进贡,一类是来自南海,并进一步探索了我国古代在南海开发珊瑚的情况。

Utilization of the South China Sea coral has a long history,but due to its remote location,the production of coral in South China Sea lacks documentation. This paper first studies the situation of ancient Chinese consumption of coral and dates back the sources of coral. It finds that consumption of coral in Ancient China come from two channels： one is foreign tribute,and the other is produced from the South China Sea. The paper also explores the development of coral in the South China Sea in ancient China.
