新中国的流行小说是从战争小说开始的,最重要的几部是《平原烈火》《风云初记》《铜墙铁壁》《保卫延安》和《铁道游击队》。这几部小说的流行各有原因,总体上来看都是为之后的小说创作探索道路。一是确定了流行小说的战争题材;二是确定了正确的政治态度;三是给了新中国人民一个关于重大政治问题的直观解释。正是由于这几部小说的流行,才有五十年代末六十年代初的战争小说流行大潮。

New China＇s bestseller novel began with war novels,among which Plain Fire,Stormy Years,Defend Yanan and Railway Guerrilla are important ones. Though popular for their respective reasons,these novels as a whole pave a way for the writing of forthcoming novels. Owing to these novels,the war novels became popular in late 1950 s and early 1960 s.
