中外地质学类期刊英文标题对比分析研究

Comparing English Titles in Chinese and Foreign Journals in Geology

以国内外地质学类发表于2013-2014年权威期刊论文英文标题为语料,建立国外和国内地质学类英文标题语料库,对比分析论文标题的结构和语言特点。统计发现,两类语料中的论文英文标题的结构和语言有共性也存在一定的差异。国外作者更多的使用复合结构以在题目中涵盖研究问题、结果、对象等信息,国内作者在拟写学术论文的英文标题时候,倾向使用"形式对等"翻译的策略,将中文标题翻译成NN+NN英文标题结构。国内作者在将中文论文题目译成英语题目时候,应尽量做到翻译的功能对等,同时也应从认知视角下采用整体思维、语义解释和概念联想以使语言应用达到形式和意义的完美结合。

Based on the English titles in Chinese and foreign research papers in Geology from 2013 to 2014,this paper compared their structural and linguistic features. The results show that the two corpora share similarities,but there exists apparent differences. In the FRAET,foreign writers tend to use more compound structures which can contain more information to emphasize the research questions,results and object of the paper. While in CRAET,Chinese writers tend to use form equivalence translating strategy to translate Chinese titles into English NN ＋ NN structures. When translating Chinese titles into English ones,scientific researchers should adopt proper translating strategies to make functional equivalence. Also,they should adopt holistic thinking,semantic explanation and conceptual association as methodology for title translation to achieve overall network of conceptual integration. It is advisable to write English titles directly according to linguistic features in a certain disciplinary.
