Lin Yutang straddles the cultures of East and West through his lifelong undertaking to introduce to the West the ancient Chinese classics in beautiful English. This paper aims to explore Lin＇s crowning achievements in this aspect and what makes a success of his translations abroad through an analysis of his selection of material,translating strategy,and promotion channel,carrying practical implications for the gargantuan project of rendering Chinese classics in light of his translation outlook and first-hand practice.
