It could be seen from the papers and reports of the 24th World Congress of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) that the forest and water not only provide ecological products and services, but also have interactions with each other. The research on forest and water interactions has an important significance to understand the function of terrestrial ecosystem, protect environment and respond to climate change. The paper concluded the trends and hot issues concerning the research on forest and water by understanding the current research situation of forest and water interactions, which put the focus on the research progress in eco-hydrology cognition, comprehensive study on drought adaptation, land use change and hydro-ecological process, forest and water management and ecosystem services. The study was expected to learn the concepts and ideas on forest and water ecosystem protection, research and management and to broaden the research thoughts for of eco-hydrology and related fields in China.
