This article gave an introduction of recent debates on conflicts of interest, caused by a series of papers published in The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM). The papers tried to reinterpret industry-physician relations, arguing that this relation was not necessary harmful; causes of bias were multiple while disclosure of conflicts of interest was actually useless; and we should go beyond moral outrage, weighing the trade-offs of conflicts of interest regulation. Then, quite a few journals published their respective different opinions. Especially, The British Medical Journal refuted most seriously, calling "justifying conflicts of interest in medical journals., a very bad idea".
