Master Tan-xu and His Thoughts of Tiantai Sect

倓虚大师(1875-1963)是中国近现代佛教高僧之一,是天台宗第四十四代法眷传人,是在近代将佛陀的精神和思想发扬广大的践行者、革新家、教育家。在中国天台宗史上,倓虚大师被海内外佛教界公认为令人敬佩的高僧大德,甚至被誉为"近代僧伽教育之父"。他在传承天台宗的"教演天台、行归净土"理论的同时,又进行了思想创新。

Master Tan-xu（1875A.D.—1963A.D.）is one of Chinese modern eminent Buddhists andthe forty-forth generation of Tiantai Sect of Buddhism. He is a famous practitioner, reformer, educatorand an important person in the history of Chinese Tiantai Sect of Buddhism. Therefore, Master Tan-xuis recognized as admirable monk at home and abroad, even as the ＂father of modern monk＇s educa-tion＂. He has made tremendous contributions to the continuity and thought innovation of Tiantai sect.
