How the Qing Government Met the Japanese Aggression of Taiwan

日本蓄谋侵台已久,屡屡见缝插针,挑起事端,最终悍然出兵。清政府内部意见分歧,不得不苟且因应,以赔款了结。此后,日本更得寸进尺,清政府仍难奋起,甲午战败,终于被迫割让台湾,达数十之年,教训沉重而深刻。

After having designs on Taiwan for a long time, Japan launched war against this island. However, the Qing Government had no choice but to end this confl ict through reparations due to differences in opinion. Afterwards, Japan grew greedier and launched the Naval War of 1894-1895. When the Qing Government lost the war, Taiwan was ceded to Japan for years.
