During the middle and later period of the WWII,especially when the Pacific War started, the "hump"air route from Assam of India to Kunming of China was a very import rout for China to communicate outside world, and thus called "the lifeline in the air".However, the route was very difficult with tough natural environment, the blockade of imperial Japanese fighters, and America's "Europe First and Asia Second"strategy. Therefore, this airline was called the "hell in the air".
