Objective To determine the effect of perceived social support and positive negative affect on maladjustment in post-deployed soldiers from peacekeeping engineering group. Methods A total of 280post-deployed soldiers from 3 military commands in the corps of peacekeeping engineering group who were within 3 years after deployment were recruited in this study. Perceived Social Support Scale( PSSS),Positive and Negative Affect Scale( PANAS),and Military Mental Maladjustment Scale( MMMS) were employed to survey the soldiers. Results 1 The MMMS score of post-deployed soldiers were significantly lower than that of the army's norm. Overall,14. 7% soldiers were found to have maladjustment, including 3. 8%,6. 4%,8. 3% and 3. 4% respectively for behavioral, emotional, interpersonal and environmental maladjustment.2 There was negative correlation of maladjustment with perceived social support and positive affect( r =- 0. 26,- 0. 17,P〈0. 01),and positive correlation with negative affect( r = 0. 32,P〈0. 01). 3 Path analytic model revealed that perceived social support had negative predictive value for maladjustment( β =- 0. 13,P〈0. 05). Positive negative affect exerted meditative effect in the relationship between perceived social support and maladjustment. Conclusion Engineering soldiers after peacekeeping action deployment have a good quality of adjustment. Perceived social support and positive and negative affect are important factors to influence maladjustment in them.
