In 1963,a gold-overlaid colored stone case of Buddhist scripture was recovered from Nansi Tower in Dongyang. The case is marked with the donation date of it,961 AD(the second year of Jianlong in North Song Dynasty). The Buddhism-Mount-Sumeru-shaped base is painted with an image of ten people dancing, which is associated with the Buddhist concept of Pure Land sect(or Sukhavati sect). This dancing prevailed in Buddhist temples throughout the central plain during North Song Dynasty and spread north-towards into Liao before the middle of the 11th century,It had important influence on the emergence and flourish of the images of San Yue(ancient folk performance art including dancing, instrumental music, juggle, kungfu and so on) in graves of Song and Liao at the end of the 11th century.
