"全球化"影响下,城市与城市之间在产业构成、空间布局、人口结构和地理环境等外在方面表现出越来越明显的同质化倾向。城市精神和市民精神在化解城市同质化难题上具有重要意义,又因二者在概念源起、情感认同和交往实践中存在着"源与流"、"整与单"、"质与量"的关系,因此,以市民精神表述城市精神具有合理的内在逻辑和丰富的实践意义。
