It is very vital to investigate English learners＇ autonomous learning initiative and self-monitoring during the cur- riculum reform of college English. The study aims to illustrate some main theories about autonomous learning, disclose English learners＇ autonomous learning initiative, and strengthen the psychological activities of autonomous learning. Furthermore, it turns to put forward some autonomous English learning self-monitoring strategies, which would move college English teaching and reform forward.
