摘要
Santa Claus是19世纪中后期以来西方圣诞节最重要的标志性形象。当圣诞节在民国时期的上海及其他城市逐渐流行的时候,他被译为"圣诞老人",其形象频现于报纸杂志,同时也被广泛地用作商业促销。由于上海是最早流行过圣诞节的城市,本文主要探寻圣诞老人在近代上海的足迹,看他是如何被中国人接受并加以利用的,由此也可从一个侧面了解圣诞节在上海等都市流行的情况。
Santa Claus is an iconic image of Christmas. He was dubbed a Chinese name Holy Birthday Old Man( 圣诞老人) when it came to China in the republic era,his image appeared in newspapers,periodicals,showcases and was utilized as commercial promoter just like the role he performs in western countries.This article aims to explore how Santa Claus came to China and accepted by Chinese,the way he was treated in social life and commercial arena,then disseminated in modern Chinese big cities such as Shanghai.
