摘要
晚清刑部尚书薛允升,任职刑部近四十年,甚有政声,然晚年却因事降职,其降职缘由,官方史书及私人笔记中记述不详。现存稿本《留庵日钞》是晚清刑部司官唐烜在光绪年间对其日常生活的记述,其中透露了薛允升降职的一些细节:薛允升在刑部派分差使中撤掉了郎中李念兹的主稿职位,李念兹怀恨在心,暗中策动御史发起对他的弹劾,恰薛允升在处理太监杀人一案中得罪了最高统治者,同时慈禧太后又忌恨他在刑部的权力过大,因而借故将其降职调离刑部。
Xue Yun-sheng( 薛允升) was minister of Criminal Department in the Late Qing Dynasty,and was demoted in his old age. There are few official records or private notes referenced to this issue. The existing manuscript of Um day stay copy( '留庵日钞') is a private diary,its author Tang Xuan( 唐煊) was an officer of Criminal Department. It revealed some details about the demotion of Xue,he removed Li Nianzi( 李念兹) from his clerk position,Li started an impeachment to take revenge on him. The Empress Dowager Ci Xi( 慈禧) dismissed Xue from minister position and expelled him from the criminal department.
