This paper focuses on the American writer and ecologist Rachel Carson's "sea trilogy" and explores her ecological thoughts. It shows that Carson describes the beauty of the ocean and the diversity and complexity of the marine lives, and she opposes the destruction of marine ecosystems by means of science and technology. Though Carson seldom uses the word "ecology", her "sea trilogy" objectively reflects the ecological hohsm: each marine species has its unique value and is an essential part in the marine ecosystem. Human beings should take the ecological responsibility to maintain the environmental justice so as to achieve the harmony between man and nature as well as the sustainable development.
