LU Xun and HU Shi: A Mirror Image Of Intellectuals

作为中国新文学天穹的两位巨星,鲁迅和胡适是互为镜像的知识分子。他们从同一营垒中的革命战士到分道扬镳,经历了一个曲折过程。后来,鲁迅思想开始"向左转",逐渐成为左翼文艺运动的精神领袖;胡适却不断向自由主义思想靠拢,终于成为蒋介石的重要"诤臣"。实际上,他们在政治立场和文化态度方面的迥异选择,是由于思想观念等诸多因素造成的。鲁迅和胡适都是20世纪中国思想文化领域的智者,肆意抬高或贬损其中一方,都是一种非理性态度。

As the two stars in the sky of China＇s new literature,LU Xun and HU Shi were mirror images of intellectuals. They were the revo LUtionary fighters from the same camp and then went their separate ways,going through a tortuous process. Later,LU Xun＇s ideas began to ＂ turn left＂ and became the spiritual leader of the left-wing literary movement; HU Shi continued to move closer to the liberal ideology,and finally became an important minister daring to give advice in Chiang＇s government. In fact,caused by different ideas and other factors,they had quite different choice on their individual political positions and cultural attitudes. LU Xun and HU Shi were two intellectuals in Chinese ideological and cultural fields in the 20 th century. It will be an irrational attitude if either were willfully praised or derogated.
