Nadine Gordimer＇s long novels are known for their disclosure of the reality in South Africa,while The Pickuptells an immigration story with globalization as its background.In the story,white beautiful rich girl Julie abandoned her comfortable life and chose to reconstruct her dream home in her poor black boyfriend,Abdu＇s country,while Abdu chose to seek his dream life in another country.The story does not only emphasize people＇s indifference and ignorance to nature,but also uncover the imbalance of spiritual ecology resulted from people＇s alienation from nature.Therefore,only if by constructing harmonious relationship with nature can people get rid of the feeling of＂homeless＂and achieve the balance of spiritual ecology.
