Xi Zhongxun's Main Contribution to the United Front Work in the New Period

习仲勋是中国共产党统一战线工作的卓越领导人。20世纪80年代,他在中共中央书记处工作的7年时间里,分管党的统一战线包括民族、宗教、侨务等方面的工作,以求真务实的探索精神,宽宏大度的政治修养,平易近人善交朋友的工作作风,为开创新时期党的统一战线工作新局面做了大量艰苦细致的工作。尤其是他在理论上的深入思考和新的创见,丰富和发展了中国共产党统一战线的实践和理论,为这一时期党的统一战线工作实现新的转变发挥了重要的指导作用。

Xi Zhongxun is an outstanding leader of the Communist Party of China（CPC） in terms of the United Front work. During the seven years he worked in the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee in the 1980 s, he was in charge of the Party＇s United Front work relating to ethnic groups, religions, overseas Chinese and other affairs. With an explorative spirit, broad-minded political stance, and approachable and friendly personal charisma, he did a lot of meticulous work for creating a new situation for the Party＇s United Front cause in the new period. In particular, his deep thinking and new ideas in theory has enriched and developed the United Front theory and practice of the CPC, playing an important role in guiding the change of the United Front work in this period.
