On the Interesting Narration of the New Novels in Late Qing Dynasty

晚清新小说在其文学地位得到绝大提高的同时发展出了一套趣味叙事。这与晚清小说家的双重身份及读者意识、小说的开放性和报刊业的繁荣有很大关系。趣味叙事包括游评的故事模式和审丑的喜剧叙事,选择人们感兴趣的题材、对人物进行命名以及评点都可以增加新小说的趣味感。晚清趣味叙事呈现了新的叙事风貌,促进了短篇小说的繁荣。五四时期,主义代替了趣味,完成了一次文学话语的大转型。但是,趣味叙事仍然有着长久的生命力。

The new novels in late Qing Dynasty developed an interesting narration with the rising status of literature, which are related to the writer＇s double identities, the openness of the novel and the prosperity of the modern newspaper industry. The interesting narration includes the narration mode of ＂travel- comment＂, ugliness＇ s appreciation, selecting the interesting subject, etc. It promoted the prosperity of the short story. The interesting narration keeps long vitality, although it was replaced by the ＂theme＂ in ＂May Forth＂ times.
