Review of Pragmaliguisitic Failure from the Perspective of Relevance Theory

从关联理论角度重新审视前人对语用语言失误的分类,发现在不同的语境下,某些不理解间接言语行为、忽视完整句在特定场合下的特殊含义以及混淆同义结构的不同使用场合而造成的语用语言失误未必是交际者的无意识失误,而是有意识回声,让交际对方通过最佳关联获得特殊的认知效果。语言的理解在很大程度上依靠认知环境,所以语用语言失误的产生也有其特定语境。

Under the theoretical framework of relevance theory,it pointed out that in different context,such failures as failing to understand indirect speech act,ignoring specific implication of complete sentence in specific situation,or confusing different usages of the same expression in different contexts,are in effect not unconscious failures,but conscious echoes,with the purpose of bringing out special cognitive effect through optimal relevance. Since language understanding relies,to a large extend,on one＇s cognitive environment,the occurrence of pragmalinguistic failure is also context-sensitive.
