The microstructure of a rapidly solidifed Cu-Zn-Al-Mn-Ni-Ti shape memeory alloy is stud-ied.The results show that the configuration of the second phases adn dislocation details were related to the cooling rate,and the modulated micrcatructure and the surface martensite in β pprent phase wereconsidered to result from the composition changes and atom relaxation of the surface,when the sample deviated a few degree from (01)β1,the surface martensite particles were observed instead of the mod-ulated microstructure found in β1 phase when the sample was oriented to exact(001)β1.
