Having received no regular professional training in either animation or film, Paul Bush won international reputation with his outstanding animation works. His creations involve the fields of experimental film, vanguard animation, documentary film, live-action feature film, and advertisement. Through the life＇s journey of an animation master without a diploma of animation, this paper tries to expound the importance of ＂amateur mentality＂ to animation creation. Facts have proved that the artists who have not received any regular professional training can often become outstanding figures in a certain profession by virtue of their excellent artistic perception ability and their exploring spirit unshackled by outmoded conventions and customs.
