A Brief Analysis of Maternal Affection in Frida's Paintings

弗里达·卡洛(Frida Kahlo)是20世纪初墨西哥重要的女艺术家。在西方70年代女性主义出现之前,她就是一位自我意识和个性风格相当强烈的女画家。她最具代表性的,是她自白性的肖像画。独特的个人经历、墨西哥当时的社会环境、传统文化等多个方面影响到弗里达的创作,形成一种与西方超现实主义相呼应的"魔幻主义绘画"。本文主要讨论弗里达关于母性题材的绘画,结合弗里达的个人经历,解析弗里达绘画中体现的对于生育的渴望与绝望,以及她作品中流露的痛苦与力量。她以一种女性特有的细腻笔触进行的记录,正是她体验与转移痛苦,并在绘画中得到解救的方式。

Frida Kahlo is a key Mexican female artist in the early 20th century. Before the advent of feminism in the West in the 1970s, she was a painter with strong self-awareness and personalized style. Her typical representative was her confession-like portrait. Her creations were influenced by her unique personal experiences, the then social environment in Mexico and traditional culture, and thus a ＂magic realism＂ corresponding to the Western surrealism was developed. This article focuses on Frida＇s maternity-themed paintings, and, combining with her personal experience, analyzes the desire for and the despair about reproduction reflected in her paintings, as well as the misery and strength revealed in them. The record she made with a unique feminine exquisite brush was just the way she experiences and transfers misery and seeks salvation in painting.
