Objective To investigate attitudes to death among medical and nursing students, and provide reference for designing and developing the curriculum of death education in different specialty. Methods Totally 119 thirdyear medical students and 116 third-year nursing students were investigated with Death Attitude Profile-Revised(DAP-R) in this study. Results Among the students,90% of them did participate in funerals, and more than half of them did read books about death. Most respondents demonstrated an attitude of neutral acceptance to death. However, the score of nursing students was significantly higher than that of medical students on the attitudes to fear of death and death avoidance(P〈0.05). Conclusion Nursing students tended to have more fear and anxiety toward death than medical students. It is suggested to develop individual death education, which will contribute to in-depth knowledge of life and death among medical and nursing students.
