The ongoing Crossrail project in London is making a significant contribution to the upgrade of transport sector and urban regeneration of adjacent region. Based on two architectural cases of underground station design and associated public realm projects, Bond Street Station and Tottenham Court Road Station, this paper attempts to theoretically put forward 'archi-infrastructure' as an instrumental field of operation. Through discussing the position, strategy, effect and consequence of 'archi- infrastructure' in respond to the developed built up fabric, it points out the paradigmatic shift in transport architecture and infrastructure, from a standardised object with maximised technical efficiency, to an instrumental field of operation with transgression in stitching into immediate urban context and in healing public realm.
