The traditional concept of urban public space is being disintegrated nowadays, yet new category of public space has not been framed. In the time of transition, some new typologies of public space are appeared among metropolitans. For instance, spatial sharing is a new pattern of spatial use that appears along with the cyber world based on the Internet, meanwhile, new society relations and structures that related to this pattern are emerging constantly, such as the reunion phenomenon in strangers' society, the mutual mapping between hyperspace society and physical space and sharing as a new spatial power, etc. This article takes the social practice of Shanghai Upper Bookstore as an example, analyzes independent bookstores as amazing dual-role spaces, and discusses the exploratory sociological significance in the transition process from spatial consumption to spatial sharing.
