Analysis of Ethnic Problems in Russia's North Caucasus Region

俄罗斯的北高加索地区民族众多,民族关系复杂。近年来,北高加索地区的民族结构变化明显,少数民族人口逐年增长,而俄罗斯人陆续迁离,使该地区趋向民族单一化。北奥塞梯和印古什之间、卡巴尔达人和巴尔卡尔人之间、达吉斯坦内部民族之间、斯塔夫罗波尔边疆区外来民族与俄罗斯人之前都有或尖锐、或缓和的冲突矛盾,这些冲突和矛盾将给地区的稳定与安全带来严峻考验。

There are so many nationalities in the north Caucasus region of Russsia that ethnic relations are very complex. In recent years, national structure in the north Caucasus region is changing obviously. Minority population is increasing year by year, at the same time, the russians are migrating from there constantly. The trend of national simplification is enhancing. There are lots of contradictions and conflicts between the？Ossetians and Ingushetia, between Kabardians and Balkars. between ethnic groups in Dagestan,between Caucasus nationalities and Russians in Stavropol krai,and so on. Theses contradictions and conflicts will greatly affect the region’s stability and security.
