Joyce Carol Oates' s prized novella Zombie is more than a crime fiction. It is a "body narrative" in which gaze, discipline, disguise and management of body fonu the core content of the story. With the help of Figure/ground relation and Container schema, two basic critical tools of Cognitive Poetics, we can explore the dynamic relationship between sex/love, violence, desire for power and the Oatesian realism.
