The American films had accounted for about ninety percent of the Chinese film market share on the eve of the new China founding. In order to alleviate the contradiction between supply and demand of film market, to reduce unemployment and stable social order in the founding of new China, The people's government temporarily allowed the movie theaters to screen some western films whose contents did not violate the common program and the government's decree. After the outbreak of the Korean War, the Chinese audience had enhanced the hatred, disdain and contempt of the United States, then they, in succession, had stayed away from and abandoned the American films. Along with excess produce of the domestic new films, abundant translation introductions of the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe's films, and the efforts of issuing and screening departments, the American films had vanished from the Chinese film market by the beginning of 1951.
