There are three key words in the fiction of He Ye： map, folk legend. Rather than narrating the story, he is more interested in sketching the novel map, the map of Minnan （southern Fujian）, which brings great significance to his writing in the Fujian literature. Next comes the element of folk. He gave a presentation to it through the story of Minnan folk medical skill, complicated folk customs, unique Minnan dialect, and legends of common people. Such writing in style is the result of his attempt to call for the position of Minnan and Zhangzhou literature, and also the influence of the trend of contemporary Chinese fiction.
