In a recent article entitled"South China Sea:How We Got to This Stage" in the U.S.-based National Interest on May 9,veteran diplomat Fu Ying and senior researcher Wu Shicun examined the evolution of the maritime disputes in the South China Sea between China and some neighboring countries.They called for efforts to avoid further misunderstandings in order to prevent escalating tensions amongst all parties concerned.
