ZHANG Yong-kang’s experience in treating dry cough with Xiaoqinglong Decoction

小青龙汤是《伤寒论》中治疗风寒外束、内有水饮的名方,本多用于咳嗽伴痰液清稀色白或泡沫痰者的治疗。张永康教授擅用小青龙汤治疗干咳、无痰、咽痒、舌淡胖苔水滑者,疗效满意,其认为干咳由'冰伏'所致。冰伏是指感受寒邪或过用寒凉药物导致内邪不能外散而被遏制于体内形成寒邪积聚,不能透发而出,如同被冰层覆盖一般。外感内伤均可致病。

Xiaoqinglong Decoction is a famous prescription from Shanghan Lun for treating syndrome of superficies tightened by wind-cold and fluid retention syndrome,which is commonly used to cure the cough with generous diluted sputum or frothy expectoration.Professor ZHANG Yong-kang is good at treating patients with dry cough,no phlegm,itchy pharynx,and plump and pale tongue with slippery fur caused by underlying-cold with Xiaoqinglong Decoction effectively.Underlying-cold is a symptom that internal pathogens can not be dispersed and restrained in the body to form accumulation of cold pathogens caused by external cold or cold-natured herbs,as if the body is covered by ice.Both external and internal injury can cause disease.
