In 1919,the May Fourth Movement erupted in China. At the same time, several student movements happened in St.John' s University in Shanghai. Founded in 1879 by the Episcopal Church(United States) and having not become registered in China for decades,St.John's University was used to take a neutral attitude when facing China's political movements. During the student movements at that time, the particularity of such a Christian university had given itself the marginal part of the May Fourth Movement, abundant opportunities to encounter with the history of China. Students' against the university's management, the class suspension decision made by school, or the headmaster and teachers' understanding of the long way of Chinese student movements, all of the above showed different meanings which are much more than the only national perspective. Furthermore, the reconstruction of the past may also provide further understanding of the May Fourth Movement.
