Progranulin (PGRN) is a secreted glycoprotein which has multiple physiological functions, including promoting cell proliferation, anti-inflammation, and trophic effect. It is involved in many important pathological and physiological events such as inflammation response, wound repair, growth and development, and metabolism. More recently, PGRN was recognized to play crucial roles in the occurrence and development of the neurological diseases. In this article, we reviewed the expression of PGRN in brain, related signaling pathways, biological functions, and the research progress of PGRN in different neurological diseases.
