Expansion and Constraints of the “Islamic State” in Libya

"伊斯兰国"组织在利比亚的扩张是该组织海外扩张的典型案例。在利比亚政局持续动荡的背景下,"伊斯兰国"组织试图在利比亚复制其在伊拉克和叙利亚的扩张和管理模式。然而,"伊斯兰国"组织外籍极端分子同利比亚当地部落之间的矛盾,以及该组织在利比亚有限的物力和财力,成为"伊斯兰国"组织在利比亚扩张受挫的重要原因。宗教极端主义既是"伊斯兰国"组织扩张所依赖的意识形态工具,也是其扩张的制约因素。

As one of the most important branches outside Iraq and Syria,the proliferation of 'Islamic State'( IS) in Libya attracts little academic attention. This paper tries to analyze the traits and obstacles faced by IS in Libya. With the help of the foreign Islamic extremists,IS in Libya has expanded and developed steadily in Libyan chaos through its efforts to duplicate the past success in Iraq and Syria. However,both the clashes between the IS foreigners and'treble culture'in Libya,and the limited recourses of IS occupied Libya area,hinder IS further expansion in the country. The IS development in Libya offers us a very typical example to analyze the overseas proliferation and helps us more insightfully understand the dynamics of IS expansion.
