Hunan Tongdao Dong brocade which has complicated technology, exquisite pattern and colorful style, embody the Dong people intelligent wisdom and exquisite craftsmanship. Every piece of Dong brocade is a unique artistic symbol, it convey the classical semantic of semiology. By studying the formation, development, decorative patterns and colors of Tongdao Dong brocade from the semiotic perspective, we can refine these symbol element, promote the interaction of modern design and traditional folk art and provide beneficial reference for the inheritance and development of the traditional folk art. If we applied applied Dong brocade to teaching innovation, can promote the connection and development of art design education and traditional culture.
