对思想政治教育方法的理解与对思想政治教育的理解是分不开的,但总体上,可按照思想政治教育方法的存在样态,把它分为始源性方法、中介性方法和方法艺术。思想政治教育方法的功能包括中介功能、结构功能和教育功能。尤其不能忽视思想政治教育方法本身的教育功能。衡量思想政治教育方法的质性标准有可行性、有效性和正当性,并且与评价主体紧密联系。权变、个性、互补、创新是思想政治教育方法选择的原则,"效果最大化,成本最小化"是思想政治教育方法选择的目标。

The understanding of ideological and political education methods is inseparable from the understanding of ideological and political education. But on the whole, in accordance with the patterns, the methods can be divided into source methods, medium methods and methods of art. The functions of the methods include intermediary, structural and educational ones. Especially, the educational function shouldn＇t be ignored. The qualitative standards for measuring the methods are practicability, effectiveness and legitimacy, and should be closely associated with the subject of evaluation. Flexibility, uniqueness,complementation and innovation are the principles for the selection of ideological and political education methods to reach the goal of maximizing the effects and minimizing the cost.
