Postsecularism is a school of thought in the Western sphere of sociology, reflective on and critical of instrumental reason and secular culture. By both deinstitutionalizing and secularizing traditional religious faith, postsecularism extracts from it secular spirituality as the theoretical core, through which is framed a new mode of faith that could counteract the ills and vices instrumental reason and religious fanaticism have brought to life. Stimulated by his unique Catholic family background,Don De Lillo, one of the greatest American postmodern novelists, has been exploring upon probable means to shape and accomplish secular spirituality,as a result, all his representative works are good exemplars of how postsecularism's great artistic potential could be well tapped in the creation of American postmodern fictions.
