刘歆谋反事件是刘歆参与策划的一场反对王莽统治的未遂政变,是新朝末年发生的一场严重政治危机。就刘歆参与策划谋反而言,新朝统治集团内部的矛盾是根本原因,刘氏皇族和下层民众反抗王莽统治的斗争是重要原因,刘歆的家庭和个人遭遇则是直接原因。这一谋反事件的策划者有国师刘歆、大司马董忠、卫将军王涉三人,道士西门君惠、司中大赘孙伋是主要参与者。这场未遂政变标志着新朝统治集团的分崩离析,使本来摇摇欲坠的新朝大厦迅速倒塌,从而加速了两汉之际的政权更迭。

The event of Liu Xin＇s participation in the attempted coup against Wang Mang^s rule, was a serious political crisis in the last years of the Xin dynasty. The fundamental reason that led to Liu Xin＇s involvement in planning the rebellion was the internal contradiction of the ruling group in the Xin dynasty, the struggle against Wang Mang＇s rule from Liu＇s royal family and the lower people was an important factor,and the direct reason was the experience of the Liu Xin^s family and he in person. The conspirators included Liu Xin, Dong Zhong and Wang She. And the main participants were Ximen Junhui and Sun Ji. This event marked the breakdown of the Xin government, accelerated political change from the Western Han to the Eastern Han.
